I got the pleasure to interview Phil who is the singer/songwriter for the band The Roads Below! It was great to get to know a bit more about the band as well as get to know a little bit more about Phil!
- How long has the band been together?
“ two years ( i only remembered this because we have a band house together and that’s how long the lease has been haha)”
2. Tell me about yourselves (where you’re from, how old you are etc.)
“Phil 30 little rock, ar – Max 25 Los Angeles, ca – Seth 26 Jackson, MI – Drew 24 Carmel, IN”
3. If you could live anywhere in the world besides America?
“Australia”
4. What do you want new listeners to know about you?
“I am a triplet, i co wrote our new single with my brother Anthony.”
5. Any pre-show rituals?
“warming up, and a lot of pee breaks from the gallon of water i drink beforehand. Usually a quick prayer to the big guy upstairs, w/ some basic meditation as well”
6. What is the story behind “Bonfire”?
“Wrote it w my twin brother Anthony… he had the chorus idea for a few months, and finally i finished up the verses and bridge and it really came together. We loved growing up around bonfires being from arkansas. We realized since i moved to tennessee that i hadn’t been to one in a while, so “Bonfire” came along … now all my buddies invite me to their weekend bonfires. Loving it.”
7.Cereal than milk or milk than cereal
“ i don’t eat cereal, cause i can’t stop eating it when i start. But always cereal first.. why the hell would anybody do it any other way? Haha”
8. If you could only have 1 artist on your phone would would it be?
“stephen jenkins, the singer songwriter of third eye blind, my favorite band. He’s such a poet and a melody king. So consistent and always getting better. Love that guy”
9. Most embarrassing moment? ( in general not just on stage)
“ Running into a girl i had a MAJOR crush on who i was texting an hour before, while holding postmates bags at the elevator she was coming down on.. (side hustle haha – i just didnt look too cool in that moment)- had no clue she lived at the condo i was delivering to”
10. Dream person to collab with?
“Shane McAnally or Keith Urban.. Hmmmm”
11. Guilty pleasure?
“peanut butter and EDM”
12. If you weren’t doing music what would you be doing as a career?
“i would assume something music industry related, but i really don’t know. Im a business school drop out :]”
